Updates? :(

Well I did return home this last weekend.... However, when I went out into the garage to work I discovered that the last time I was in there (2 weeks prior) I left my air compressor on.

When the temperatures were in the negatives, the air compressor destroyed it's belt. When I walked in, the motor was just spinning. I about shat my pants. I'm glad nothing burned up. It had been running long enough that most of the 60 gallon tank pressure had bled off. (most likely a few days)

So with my work horse out of commission until the next time I return home, I wasn't feeling overly eager to work.

That said, I did do SOMETHING...It isn't much, but I shaved the rear windshield wiper, and the washer fluid tip from the rear hatch.

I wasn't going to post, because it was pretty insignificant. Guess that's changed now.

I have an internship in February, but in March I am finished and will return home to work on the cars full time.

it's no big deal. New belt is on the way.

But, I actually spent some money on the car today for the first time since buying a silicone coupler for my intake. I bought some 3" exhaust making materials. But technically, the scrap price of the old catalytic converter will pay for most if not all of these. So once I do that I'll probably subtract that price from the total once again. The way I see it, this still won't cost me anything in the end.

Muffler - $49.50 shipped rounded up to $50.00

and some mandrel bends. $80 shipped

The rest of the straight pipe, and the remaining parts are already owned, thanks to the 240 project.

So for now...

Total money spent on project to date: $793

For what it is, its pretty impressive lol. I hate body work with a passion. A friend of a friend lost his mind trying to finish a 240z that he ended up giving up on.

He's driving a CR-Z now, still the same attention to detail. Still just as cool, lol.

Also, shitty luck on the whole flood thing in your garage. :C

Nice, does he have a new build thread? I'd like to check it out.

And meh, the water was an inconvenience, it just COULD have sucked. I was just pissed because I wasn't able to work on the car.

Composites.

I'll be spending the next month making some stand up Jet Skis I think.

And the best part is I'll probably be home doing it too. I won't know for sure until Monday, but if I AM home. Car stuff will soon speed up. Sooner than expected.

Here you are, http://www.crzforum.com/forum/cr-z-build-threads/14083-rustbuckets-build-thread.html

It's definitely shitty when you have to think about those things in the back of your head.
Our units are actually a little bit elevated so it's not so bad, but when there's +20cm falling down (like tonight), we usually set up halogen work lights outside the doors while we're there to make sure the snow doesn't build up past the elevation.

Not very low car friendly though, had to build ramps for our cars. lol

Okay. I got back to working on the 280 today. Some progress ensued.

Passenger floor got my attention for most of the afternoon. In case you forgot. Here's what it looked like.

Stripped the floor of all the sound deadening. Luckily there is still some nice steel hidden beneath all the insulation.

Saving weight! I had to take at least 15-20 pounds of material out of car today.

Where I stopped for the evening.

Tomorrow is another day.

Days worked on project to date: 14

Total money spent on project to date: $793
