I've slowly tracked and made my way through this odyssey of a post over the past few months. What an impressive job you've done to this thing, really amazing that you have maintained the attention span to work on it this long without ever being able to even drive it! :hail:

Definitely putting a major chick in my armor of resisting wrenching on my own car, it makes it all that much more tempting after seeing your almost finished product after all the hard work you have put in.

Going to keep tracking your progress, hope those wheels touch the ground and you can get rolling in it here soon man! :D

I truly appreciate that. Thank you.

More door panel goodness.

It was an anxious day. Not only did I infuse the passenger carbon panel, which is always somewhat strenuous, I managed to actually fit the carbon door panel to my car. Had to hack into that beautiful laminate. Again, scary...But necessary.

Pictures explain the rest.

Needless to say, I'm pretty happy. Still need to locate, and drill hole for the door lock pull, and attach the inner window felt and it's done. Aside from a custom pull strap.

Tomorrow I see if that panel looks, and fits, half as well as this one does.

So clean.

whoops. I'm a douche.

yes, there are different epoxies (specifically the catalyst/hardener) that leave different finishes.

But it's usually the hardener that adds or removes any of these effects. The epoxy alone should, for the most part, be universal/constant.

There aren't, as far as I know, any pearl type finish epoxies. Usually the only added effect that manufacturers care about is how clear the resin system cures.

Normally epoxy will cure in a yellow/amber hue. Sometimes this is not preferred, so special "clear" hardeners will be used instead.

If anyone cares for any other effects, this is performed with some sort of post manufacturing painting process, completely after the fact.

One of the cooler things I've seen lately, has to be the bio luminescence hardeners that people have been putting in their epoxy before they coat furniture/wood etc....

Pretty neat stuff.

Teaser of what I'll be up to this weekend. Popped the passenger's side today. I hope it fits...

I ran into some trouble today...

Long story short, the passenger's side doesn't fit in a way that allows the door to close easily.....sucks. I jinxed myself.

This is the problem area. Stupid corner....

But I had a backup plan, should something like this arise. I never expected to nail fitment right out of the gate. ( I never do :) ) The driver's side truly shocked me.

PLAN B: Two tone, using the OEM top.

This is what I will most likely run on MY car. Except with alcantara wrapped around the OEM top piece, not the 42 year old vinyl.

So my question to you guys, which do you prefer? The one piece? Or the two tone? Comments? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Regardless, since I have a perfect driver's side (fitment wise) I'll modify the passenger's plug..etc.....to rectify the mistake. So looks like there are going to be two potential options. Nothing wrong with that...I guess.
