While you can have luck with high mileage cars, a European car is going to come with inevitable more expensive repairs.

Sure, but we're talking about reliability, not cost of repairs. A Suzuki Samurai is far from the most reliable car, but the repairs are dirt fucking cheap.. Autonomously, a 2015 Audi Q5 is a very reliable suv, but if it breaks down... Aww shit if warranty doesn't cover it.

If I had 10k to spend on a car, and I wanted it to be fast "you are going to HAVE to make some concessions to what you want", I'd get either an 05'ish' TL Type S, a c5 vette, an 04 RSX type S, or a Subaru

Now, if you want your insurance to be out-fucking-rageous, go with the corvette "realistically, you're looking at 300 for a charger? I'd say a corvette would be around 20-30% more in cost"
If you want a car with terrible crash test rating, and no back seats.. Go with the RSX Type S "My wife had one for years, they're fun little cars to cruise around in.."
If you want a car that someone in your age bracket will probably nuke, get the Subaru... Their transfer case is garbage.
If you want a 4 door car that gets good gas milage, has decent performance qualities, and its a blast to drive... Check out the TL Type S.

Maybe if you don't do your own work, I have less than 6 grand into my beetle to date and that includes every bad part replaced, every upgrade/cosmetic change made, and the price of the car. Personally found the parts are cheap in comparison to what a shop will charge to put said part in, they see foreign emblem and up cost because they can get away with it. Key is how you maintain it and what you have to start. Tdi's like mine will run till the wheels fall off if you simply don't ignore the important things. That can be said for a lot of cars.

I'm making generalized statements....stop making it into circumstantial instances.

European cars are generally more expensive to repair AND work on. That's it.

Some BMWs are fast. And newer models are reliable.

10k will get you a sub par car.

But they arent... unless you let a shop bend you over and charge more than is required to fix something... if you actually look around and find the right place to have something worked on and aren't a sucker then it will cost just as much to get the same part replaced no matter if it's foreign or domestic. Don't allow yourself to be fucked willingly and you won't lol

Do you really think the majority of car owners, enthusiasts or not, shop around for maintenance?

They don't.

Yes, some do, but most don't. Stop arguing with facts. Even jobs under the hood are generally more complicated due to design.

Again, stop making it circumstantial.
