Well thats what I mean, you'll see a ton of BMW/Benz/Audi.. mostly driven by non-enthusiants/business people/leasing them. Usually (Like you said) Benz: C250/C300's..Now the CLA's are popping up a lot. BMW: 320/328i's or not 228i/428i... Very rarely do you see 335i's/M's etc.. They're out there a lot...But few and far between. Audi: A3/4/5's etc... Rarely see S Audi's.. Even rarer to see RS's..
Me personally, I'm a huge Audi/VW/VAG group person (I do love BMW/AMG's tho too), right now I drive the GTI as I stated but plan on getting an B8+ S4 as next car.. Maybe new S3 (Really don't want 2.0T anymore)
Really you don't see many S Audi's? Maybe they're more popular in my city/Ontario then where you are in the states but I see an S Audi on the road just about every day. There's a lot of Chinese international students in my city and quite a few of them drive S4s, S5s, S6s, even seen a few drive S7s and S8s. Certainly see S Audi's more than I do M's or AMG's.
RS's sure don't see very many of them, but RS5's are over 100,000 in Ontario and RS7's approach 150,000. Most people with that chunk of change have enough to buy a 100,000 sports car instead of a coupe, and for sedan they'll bump their price range up to 200,000 and buy a fully loaded Panamera or a Bentley/Aston Martin. I know guys at a VW dealership that bought an RS5 from a customer a few weeks ago. It's a beautiful car, but the market is narrow in North America for people looking for performance driven models of cars that are half or a third of the price normally.
I think M's and AMGs appeal less to non-enthusiasts than S Audi's do. Similar role, but Audi does a better job marketing S models to the mass market I think.
