I also made a new mold for the center console, deleting the storage compartments. I pulled it today (heh)

I can then cut out the flat portion of the console, and bond in various inserts. Things like a cup holder, storage, etc...

Here's one insert plug, ready for fairing.

It feels pretty awesome getting paid to make stuff for my car. Haha.

Random weekly update...

Designing a gauge pod to fit atop the new clamshells I am making. Shaping the plug by hand. Using EPS or expanded polystyrene foam.

Ignore that it comes in contact with my stupid dash cap. I don't anticipate that being there much longer.

And I pulled the clamshell molds today. Appears I'll be making some of those Monday.

Also made another console. This time spread tow carbon instead of twill to test a new mold. No compartments. Works.

One or twice I'd bet.

I almost feel bad for those reading/following along. When I first made this thread, I obviously didn't anticipate the project snowballing as it did.

Midway through the turbo conversion, I realized if I didn't address basically every other component on this nearly 45 year old car, that I would regret it.

I'm fairly certain, once this car is operational again, it's doing to be a DAMN good drive.

Til then, I'm going to continue developing the composite parts that I want for the car, and sell copies to people to fund the rest of the project.

Thanks for the continued support, and for bearing with me...I know this portion of the project is taking forever. Apologies.

The ends will justify the means, that I can promise.

It has been one of the very very few threads that I have actually looked forward to on this site. The attention to detail is just top notch and thats what keeps bringing me back. I'll be dead honest and say I would never read a write up on one of these cars lol but its the work that has gone into this one that is worth every minute i've spent reading it.

I've had a few projects I was going to post on here but 99 times out of 100 I never stop to take pictures or document everything like you have. It just wouldn't be worth the read to others so i've never put forth the effort.
I might do a write up on the challenger though. Most of the fun work is done now after the 572 has been built and ready to drop in so all that will remain is all of the small nickle and dime troubles i run into along the way. My wife is getting big on photography now so maybe i can talk her into documenting all of the pictures for me rather then me using my potato phone :P

One of the nicest things anyone has said to me about this project. Thank you very much for that. The sentiment warms my heart.

Once you build the habits, like taking pictures before/after, it becomes a lot easier. Now it's like second nature for me to take pictures. Although, sometimes I definitely do forget as well.

The before and after shots have now become something that I look forward to seeing. That also helps, I guess. The thread is as much for me, as it is for others. I'm thrilled people like to share in my experiences. It makes something that would otherwise be extremely lonely, a social and fun endeavor.

Thanks again Jimmy, and yeah dude! Make that thread! I'd love to see what you've got going on.

Update:

Clamshell beginning stages.

Freshly popped, began rough trimming. Haven't cut any of the important openings yet.
