You don't understand the truck thing at all. It's a tool that has a purpose but it doesn't have to be used solely for that purpose. Buying and maintaining 2 vehicles is more wasteful for most people so if they need a truck they DD one. If they need to go buy a load of firewood, they can. If they need to haul anything bigger than a vacuum cleaner, they can. Just because you see empty and unloaded trucks driving around doesn't mean they don't get used. It means they aren't being used at that particular moment. People that are against owning a truck are usually people that call a professional to do everything for them from my experience. I don't know if you fit into that category or not. Everyone I know of that drives a truck has hauled something they couldn't have otherwise hauled within the last year. If I want a load of mulch for my yard I can pick it up and do it myself.
By your logic the tools in my toolbox are useless because nothing I own is broken at the moment. You have taken what your eyes show you and failed to think it through the next 2 or 3 steps.
