We're getting 2 ft tomorrow :(

Yea... I have no student debt or credit card debt either. Holy crap 140k house, I wish I lived in your area :/

With 6 figures and only 1 car, your wife must spend a boat load for you to have to be so careful. I guess I'm unlucky with my area having such a high cost of living, but lucky in the gf aspect in that she almost spends nothing per month. Maybe, I'll reconsider and get a 2016 2LT or 2015 3LT instead of a brand new fully loaded 3LT. I have until May to decide anyway. All I know is that I can't get a c6 for the life of me, I just don't like the way it looks haha. (Wasn't a fan of corvettes until this model came out)

I have 4 vehicles plus the wife's. She has about $35k in student loans. Her car will be paid off next month. I owe $35k combined on my truck and corvette. The other two are paid for. My take home pay is around $1200/wk. $900 mortgage, $1050 in auto payments, $500 in misc bills, $250 on the land I own, $2k/yr in property taxes etc. I end up with about $2k a month in expendable income. That's a comfortable spot for me. I still can't do anything I want on a whim. I probably spend $400/mo on home and yard maintenance. Another $200/mo on auto maintenance. Another $200/mo on misc bullshit for the house and shop.

Take your monthly bills on paper and multiply by 1.5. Subtract that from income. Subtract variable costs. That's a more realistic number for what will be left every month.

My current car is almost paid off (Only $10k left) so if I buy the C7 that will put at about the same "auto payment" range as yours. Misc monthly bills, etc are similar... biggest difference is that I don't have the 900$ mortgage or land related stuff so I have a more expendable income per month. I think as long as you are able to save 2k or so a month after all expenses you should be in good shoes no?

PS. By the time I take on the mortgage (~3k-3.5k a month), we will have her combined income and no longer need to pay for my Benz. That should free up a decent amount.

You also have no state income tax chief. I live in Aiken, SC. My house is 1500sq ft 3 bed/2 bath on 1 acre with a 31x38 3 car garage with a built in 14x31 apartment with a full bathroom. $400k will get you 5000sq ft. of very nice home.

My property taxes after the homestead exemption (primary residence) are $675/yr for the house, $700/yr for the 5 acres of land I own, and about $1000 for my 4 vehicles. I live in a luxury tax state. Our vehicles and registered toys are taxed higher than real property.

Is it worth paying that much for a car, only to have it sit outside and be exposed to the elements? (Will an outdoor car cover be sufficient?)

Me personally, no. I'd not drive a vehicle worth 80k and park it outside. At the same time my opinion means shit.

You suck. 3900sqft, 5bed/4bath .80acre lot, 3 car attached and my taxes for 2015 were 14,380 bucks. The note on that house is just under 3,000/mo with tax/insurance included.

You don't even want to know what I pay for the shop a year... I could literally buy a small house each year for what I pay on this damn place.
