I'm calling bs on that but if you use it to help you sleep at night so be it. One of my primary requirements of a "driver's car" is a proper manual gearbox. I have a flappy paddle auto and while it serves it's purpose it's not the same. I agree with Mr. Clarkson on that. It's a term with a subjective definition so what you say or i say doesn't really matter.
The US might be the only place you wouldn't get laughed at for saying an auto car can be a driver's car though and that is quite a small sample.
So you would say an automatic Porsche isn't a drivers car soley on the fact that it's an automatic?
While Im well aware that a manual gearbox adds to the driving experience, I think it is only one factor adding to a driver's car experience.
If the brz wasn't a small car, wasn't less than 2800 lbs, didn't have good handling, and didn't have a low center of gravity, it wouldn't be a driver's car. Like I said, a manual transmission only adds to that experience.
