I'm calling bs on that but if you use it to help you sleep at night so be it. One of my primary requirements of a "driver's car" is a proper manual gearbox. I have a flappy paddle auto and while it serves it's purpose it's not the same. I agree with Mr. Clarkson on that. It's a term with a subjective definition so what you say or i say doesn't really matter.

The US might be the only place you wouldn't get laughed at for saying an auto car can be a driver's car though and that is quite a small sample.

So you would say an automatic Porsche isn't a drivers car soley on the fact that it's an automatic?

While Im well aware that a manual gearbox adds to the driving experience, I think it is only one factor adding to a driver's car experience.

If the brz wasn't a small car, wasn't less than 2800 lbs, didn't have good handling, and didn't have a low center of gravity, it wouldn't be a driver's car. Like I said, a manual transmission only adds to that experience.

Yes it is.

Before you go and make some dumb comment, I'm well aware that I'm "missing out on" the full experience of an entry level sports car but I was too stubborn when learning to drive manual and just stuck with auto. I do drive in some traffic and don't mind a more casual, freehanded driving experience.

It does have shifters and they work quite well and sport mode allows for higher revs before gear changing when driving without using the shifters.

An automatic Porsche would be a driver's car with a cop out transmission. Those not offered with a manual will be hated on by the manual loving crowd. That is nothing new.

Brz threads are the best, the most entertaining on this forum.
