It doesn't have to cost a million dollars, but many people "limit" themselves to cars that are affordable  instead of actually dreaming big. I just find it hard to believe some one would actually chose a 67' Chevy or '95 Subaru or some Toyota if they truly had the option of picking a 918 Spyder, La Ferrari, Mclaren P1, Koenigsegg, Pagani Huayra, etc... I know its all subjective and some might actually prefer old / cheap  cars  but my point is whenever I ask some one IRL they immediately change their minds to something cost 5-50 times more  and say "oh well if I had all the money in the world.."

My "realistic" dream car would be an Audi A5 or even Audi A7 (but that might be pushing it, hehe)

ultimate dream car list (billionaire garage)

1. Koenigsegg Agera R/One:1
2. Nissan GT-R
3. Rolls Royce Phantom / Wraith / Ghost / Coupe
4. Lamoborghini Sesto Elemento / Egoista
5. Maybach 57 / 62 / Laundulet
6. Aston Martin One 77
7. Mclaren P1
8. Mercedes 6x6 AMG
9. LaFerrari
10. Pagani Huayra

And I'd have multiple interior/exterior combinations... Materialistic as phuck hehehe  :santa:

That '67 Chevy may be a Camaro their dad had when they were a kid and they've dreamed of having one ever since. Lots of Americans who grew up in the "Americana" age of cars don't want anything but a 1960s American muscle car. Go across the United States and you'll find thousands of restoration shops that either exclusively do classic American cars, or almost completely do classic American cars. They feed a market who's dream is to have the car they idolized as a child.

There's plenty of people who would if said all the money in the world would pick some 1930s Cadillac worth $500,000. The '31 Caddy I had in my list go for well over that at auction. A split-window Corvette goes for well over $100,000, some significantly more.

Flashy, modern sports cars aren't everything. My fiancées uncle bought an R8 the first year they come out. It still has sub 10,000 K's on it. Some people would rather have a car they've always dreamed of driving that fulfills what they dream of in a car. Not everyone wants a car they can only drive in the summer. Dreams can't be preconditioned either. If your dream car is a rusted, beat up Oldsmobile Alero, that should be your dream car no matter how much money you have. My dream cars stay the same whether I'm a billionaire or I'm who I am.

They say don't meet your idol because they will disappoint you.

Word from me:

Don't drive or own your dream car, it will disappoint you.

You sure? I've driven the or a similar version (a model down let's say) of these cars on my list and I haven't been disappointed. I find if your have expectations strong going in you're likely reinforce those expectations unless it's a truly a bad car. Same with vice-versa.

Audi 2008 RS4
Audi 2012 R8 GT (Drove an 07 R8 V8 and a 11 R8 V10)
Audi 2015 RS7 (Drove 14 A7)
Ford 1966 Shelby Mustang (Drove a late 1960s Mustang don't know the year)
Porsche 1973 Carrera RS (Drove a very similar 1973 911)
Porsche 2015 Cayenne Diesel S (Drove lots of Cayennes)

With the exception of the 07 R8 and the RS4, just reinforced my (perhaps irrational) love and desire for all these cars.

haha u don't live in US do u

Im like 07 R8 and Cayenne Diesel S? those don't exist here haha.

Anyway, yea it depends on your expectations. Cayenne Diesel S is your dream car? Hard to imagine if you've driven a lot of Cayenne.
Not that its a bad car, love it, I have a Cayenne Diesel and a Macan S. Its just this SUV as dream car vs the rest of cars you've listed.

What I meant, atleast for me, for dream car, is like the car of your dreams. Like just one car, you love over any other car and you just think its the absolute best car in the world by far. And you dream about it.
That's what I meant by owning or driving you dream car. You think its the absolute best in the world by far, looks: best, performance: best. sound: best. Whatever. Anyways until you actually own it and drive it.
It may still be amazing the day you drive it or own it. But then afterwards is like is just another car haha. And sometimes in the back of your head, a sound saying: could be better. :)

I didn't drive the 07 R8 in NA, but I live here. I've never driven a Cayenne Diesel S. I've driven other Cayenne's (mostly older ones), wish they had they had more options here. I'd have a hard time justifying buying a non diesel SUV so if they had a sport version I'd absolutely love to buy it. An SUV is a "dream" family car. I can divide my dream cars into what I want. I have "three" types of dream cars. A daily driver dream car, a family/trip dream car and a leisure dream car.

I think how you perceive a car is different for every person. I didn't grow up with very much money, so expensive vehicles were never just a car to me. I still don't treat my CC like I did my older cars. When "invested" my money stupidly in the Panamera I had for less than a year, it was never just another car. I hypocritically value money too high considering I throw it away like it's nothing (paid 93 for the Panamera, sell it the next year for 71) but I just can't see anything so expensive as just another car. Maybe if I actually have the money to afford such things I might h

Finally getting back to a little free time so I've been lurking around.
