Lets see:
I called him out because he talked of reviews which I never brought up. You dont think I have seen all the reviews on it all?.... I was talking first world experience. Not reading a review. He kept at that because he was trying to defend a brand he probably has no experience with (panamera IMO doesnt count).
As much as I think i know everything, i dont, but what I have is the experience first hand and over 4-5 close friends that had been owners for years that have come to that conclusion. its not to say that overall its a lesser brand than any other brand. So that is what I brought up. Then he started talking about GTI and how its best ect ect. And it shares the exact trans as the 911. (which isnt even close) at which point made me question his selective reading and overall experience on the subject. That is also why the "what car do you own came up".
There will always be those that live by the book and follow the rules and read word per word, and experience nothing. Going based on what Car and driver said about a car is the last thing I will do. Like I mentioned before, go pick up a GTI and then pick up a 911 pdk and then pick up DCT M3 and all other dual clutch cars and give me that feedback. I'm positive his opinion will change once hes had that experience. Ive see your thread and commend you on it, been there and done that. Just not my thing at this time of my life.
You must hang out in parking lots too much. Go to a track event and come back and tell me that BMW drivers are what you claim they are. Sure there are ones out there, but that is the same for GM/Audi/Merc ect.
Also your experience is one drive, the whole point was to live with a car, that when you start noticing everything. You all know taht when you first buy an brand new car for that first week its the coolest thing because it has XXX and does XXX then you start to see how it does on a day to day basis.
is the GTI not based on the rabbit chasis/car? because based on the guy below thats how I was taking in his info about GTI > 911 trans..
Sure thing boss, still waiting.
GTI is not based on those.. GTI has independent rear suspension, better tuned chassis, everything is better..normal golf doesnt have any of that. completely different cars.. theres a reason why the GTI costs 10k more fully loaded then a 'loaded' golf if you will..which still doesnt come with all the goodies a GTI does.
I daily drive my car of course.. Its far from stock and its a blast to drive, not boring by any means. I like BMW's myself a lot.. but most of the owners are douche bags (NOT all..) but a good portion are.
And whats with the comment ''you must hang out in parking lots too much'' suppose to mean? cause it makes no sense.
As for the GTI trans/porsche thing.. The GTI trans is sophisticated and pretty superior than most cars trans out there then you think.. I'm not saying its better then a PDK by any means but its definitely pretty damn amazing for being in a 31k car.. Most 31k cars dont have half the shit a GTI has.
