a 5.3 out of the junk yard and a 80mm turbo will put a rod through the side of the block

you obviously have never built a high horse race motor, stock blocks need to be filled and internals need to be forged heads need to be ported and cams need to be changed aswell as injectors and fuel rails and the computer would also need to be tuned.

its not just as simple as put a turbo on and go...

I mean you COULD turbo a stock motor but ur not gonna be able to run high boost and it would also probably choke out at high rpms due to fuel starvation and if u know cars, turbo motors don't like to be lean

This pretty much sums it up. http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/hrdp_1109_stock_gm_ls_engine_big_bang_theory/

You won't tell me anything I dont know about an LS motor. I promise. Typically I hate citing a magazine article but that saved me a lot of time. I think the stock bottom end record is in the 8.50's @168 or somewhere close. That motor has lasted 2 seasons as well. Are they bulletproof? No. But for $500 intake to oil pan they can't be beat.

obviously you will need other parts besides the engine and turbo... thats fucking common sense...

Interrsting artical but like i said even at the end of the article they caution that its eventually gonna blow

The thing that excites me is it was a 4.8 not even the 5.3 (part of the reason they made that kind of power is because it had flat top pistons, the 5.3 didnt)

Imo its probably a terrible idea and extreemly dangerous idk if u ever hit a oil slick at 100 mph but thats sxary shit

The piston ringland goes first. You rarely ever see an ls motor window the block an oil the track down.

You can think it's crazy all you want but people everywhere are running 5.3's and Lq4/Lq9's into the 8's. There are thousands of them running 10's with minimal effort. There is a 4.8l rcsb truck local to me that made over 900whp and went 9's af full weight. I know what is possible and what isn't. These things are a hell of a lot stronger than you think.

Someone once told me idiots always out themselves as they are typically the loudest ones in the room. I imagine svtp as a gigantic daycare for toddlers with learning disabilities. Some of the stuff they think is true cracks me up. The guys that know their shit keep quite until real facts are needed.

LS1tech is going downhill too. The cheaper the cars get the lower the average age of the owners goes. I stay in the forced induction section mostly where most everyone is well informed.

The moderation and sponsor money is the problem. You can't post a legitimate issue with a sponsor without being attacked. It has caused a lot of good people to leave.
