Well, we got the car in 2002, but it had 67K miles on it

34K miles a year isn't ideal for a car...

That's 2,800 miles a month...I don't think that anyone wants to pay for an oil change every month. I bet the previous owner waited at least 5-8K miles between changes.

Also, I haven't paid someone to change my oil in over a year. I got my car in May of last year from my dad, and it said it had it's oil changed like 2K miles before I got it...So I guess it was like March or April the last time the dealership did it.

Other than tires or something major I will do everything to my car. I've done 2-3 oil changes, will do plugs soon, and all other maintenance things

i would, but i move around alot, pretty much taking what fits in my car, so i dont have tools, jacks, jack stands, etc

one of these days when i get settled somewhere i will get some stuff and start doing more myself, ive done oil changes, brake pads, replaced a water pump, thermostats, hoses, cleaning throttle bodys, spark plugs and wires, etc but i just cant do most of it anymore, no place to do it where i live, no tools anymore :-/ (at least nothing big, i have hand tools, thats about it)

I barely have any hand tools (Ratchet set, screwdrivers, a few vice grips, claw hammer, and a crescent wrench), and nothing but a pushmower and grill can fit in my garage (built to house Model T's and such) And my driveway is only a single car wide, and broken up with cracks everywhere

So I don't fair better than you by very much

yeah

theres no way in hell i would do an oil change without either drive-on lifts (whatever they are called) or jack stands though, and i dont have the oil pan either

so i find it easier to wait for a sale at CSK auto or autozone, pickup the 5qts synthetic /w filter (got 5.5qt castrol syntec and a K&N filter for $27 last time, mostly Fram/pennzoil plat before that) and theres a guy who does it for me for $10 while i work, its just convenient

I buy all my oil and shit, and go to my HS (graduated last year) and use the shops lift.

The shop teacher loves me, so he let's me do whatever I want, so long as it's nothing major. :)

i used to go to my mothers house, she used to own a few acres, it was interesting using the drive-on style lifts in the sandy dirt however, suburban=they start sinking=harrowing oil change lol
