Wow what's the damage
6 bent valves and 24 hours of taking 200 lbs of shit out of a 50lb bag. It dinged a couple pistons but they will survive. The motor has 25k miles on it so i'm not putting it back together without freshening it up. The clutch is probably close to the end of it's life too. I'm under a huge time crunch though. The wannagofast half mile race i already have a spot for is coming up on May 14th and 15th. I don't think I'll have time to have this one rebuilt and get it back together in time. I might buy a 416 LS3 with basically the same rotating assembly I already have then freshen mine up and sell it. Scoggin Dickey has 416's on the shelf ready to go. So far it'it's my best option. I'm pulling the rear cradle and torque tube out now to get the short block out.
Total damage might end up being
$5600 short block
$1300 clutch
$500 in lifters/springs
$500-$1000 in heads
$500 in gaskets, seals, gen IV conversion parts, etc.
$8400-$8900
Rebuilding my 408 will cost another grand. I'I'll sell it for $4500 probably.
So $8900-$3500 worst case. $5-$6k. It was an LS2 timing chain by the way. I'm one of the lucky few to break one.
