Yes sir. People claim it'll hold 600 stock block but I really doubt it. It does have decent bottom end factor but anything past that is waiting for it to blow up. They don't really make a lot of torque until you slap turbos on them.
To build a vq right it's stupid expensive cause their gallery gaskets and oil pump gears are junk so that's a nice chunk itself. If you're trying to make easier performance per dollar, just buy a car with a n54 or something already turbod lol
Yeah the head gaskets on the C30 are a weak point, and the OEM oil gear will only shatter if you mechanically over rev the engine. I got a oversized billet steel gear set for added protection. The 3.0L is good safely up to 400, anything too much higher and the weak point are the cast pistons, the forged crank and titanium rods are fine up to a little over 500whp.
I’m perfectly happy in the 400-450whp range, when you want 600+ you are looking at a $18k engine build alone, not including turbo, clutch, engine management or any other supporting mods, just engine. These cars just weren’t designed for raw power, but that’s not to say there aren’t a few 4 digit hp NSXs around.
