this is actually what i'd like to avoid, buying an expensive version of a standard car

what exactly am i paying for in luxury cars that makes them worthwhile? i'd like to make sure i'm not buying the automotive equivalent of an iphone

With the way your priorities are, what you're looking for is a Camry or a Civic. If you want something bigger, Accord.

i'm thinking it's time for something a tad luxurious but not sure where to begin in terms of what to look for in these more expensive brands

what are your thoughts on audi, lexus, bmw, infiniti, benz etc? looking at sedans specifically

when someone says bmw's are nice - what exactly does that mean compared to what i'm driving right now?

if you want a tad luxurious, go for a genesis sedan, can get really nice features and warranty, just isnt branded as bmw benz etc

So is a Lamborghini.

That was the next step.

My Audi master tech friend works on VW overflow jobs when the Audi service department is slow. It's the same shit with different styling, more expensive materials, and more complex (unnecessarily) systems.

Well the guy was saying Lexus was just expensive Toyota then proceeds to say Audi's are nice.

True, a Lexus is an expensive Toyota. That doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Toyota, is one of, if not thee best overall car manufactures out there.

Cars break. Granted it's without researching all parts but from past personal experience, I can practically guarantee parts for a Lexus (on average) cost less than the comparable Mercedes, BMW or Audi part.

FYI- In case you didn't know, Infinity cars are fancy Nissan's. Similar aas the Acura/Honda or Lexus/Toyota relationships.

Yes an infiniti is really a nicer Nissan. Go test drive one of these and see if you like it.
