It did quite well last season given what it is. But I also live in delaware and we usually don't get hit too hard with snow.

Really? I thought Delaware was also under the feet of snow, last winter.

It's the curse of living on a peninsula, we get hit with massive storms and surge but all the surrounding water really fucks with winter systems. Many days of being below freezing but still only rain.

srs question: for you guys that live in snow country, how common is the whole "summer ride / winter ride" thing?

Los Angeles is pretty much the same year 'round, so people tend to drive whatever they drive, year round.

If your area gets serious snow, people usually have a winter dedicated vehicle*. That, or gnarly winter tires, if they are willing to sacrifice their ride to the salt gods.

If they don't it's almost always due to affordability - at least here.

*unless they drive a truck, SUV, or 4x4 during the normal season.

EDIT: this doesn't apply if you live in a city or metropolitan area. You either walk, or if the roads are cleared (or sub 4" snow) you can manage a smaller, lower, vehicle.

I'm Midwest (farm land) so theirs many people who drive 4wd pick ups year round. Personally I'm SUV year around with my Jeep. As for "summer/winter" ride, it's more of a nice day/bad day ride.....Ohio can go from mid 60's one day to snow the next.

Totally gotcha. I lived about 20'ish miles from Lake Michigan and it was weird, usually the closer to the lake the less snow their was. I think warmth from the water kinda protects the shoreline a bit...

I gotta ask Al Roker about that...

I even remember one small storm last season... it was the dead of night in the middle of winter and 25° outside, and raining for hours on end... it did freeze as shortly after it passed but still, fucking wild lol
