The sun gear has an extreme amount of stress put on it if you shift from reverse to drive while still rolling backwards. It was a bigger problem on the weak 60E's of the 90's and early 2000's in light duty stuff like blazers and S10's. I don't see why it couldn't happen on a 65 or 70E though.

As reliable as they are they still have shit go wrong, even in the new car reliability category.

Honestly I'm not talking shit. I admire Toyota's business model and their core values from a manufacturing perspective. I had a chance to tour one of their plants through my employer and I was very impressed. We went there to learn some of the techniques they employed in the behavior based quality and safety programs. It was a good experience. Milliken is better though.
