it was never meant to be a fast car from the beginning. Those who were disappointed don't know how to read.

it's still fun and a wonderful drivers car

I don't think it needs to be fast to be successful. It doesn't even need to be fast to be fun. For me it needs to be anything but abhorrently slow and it would be a win. Believe it or not when the initial press announcements were made and the internet set afire I was very interested and kept an eye on it as it developed. When they released the powertrain specs I was very disappointed in their efforts and the direction they chose to take. At 280-300hp the car would greatly appeal to me as a fun DD.

As for your comment on my reading ability from what I recall the initial announcements gave no indication of the power level but promised a lot of things that were interpreted differently by different people. It's not like I'm alone in feeling this way.

I'm glad you are having fun in your car, few things incite joy as repetitiously as a validated purchase you use multiple times a day. It's not a driver's car in automatic though.

It's still a drivers car with auto. The transmission doesn't make it a drivers car, it's the seating position, the chassis, and the connection to the road.

In the end, it's easier to upgrade a car's power than it is to decrease weight and increase handling.

I'm calling bs on that but if you use it to help you sleep at night so be it. One of my primary requirements of a "driver's car" is a proper manual gearbox. I have a flappy paddle auto and while it serves it's purpose it's not the same. I agree with Mr. Clarkson on that. It's a term with a subjective definition so what you say or i say doesn't really matter.

The US might be the only place you wouldn't get laughed at for saying an auto car can be a driver's car though and that is quite a small sample.
