In most states you can't. Odds are they are going to exit the vehicle if there is a gun pointed on them. I do live in a stand your ground state so it would be a toss up.
In California you would most likely get in trouble just for drawing on the person if you weren't in immediate danger. It ranges severely from state to state.
When in comes to property here they want you to run away if at all possible lol... completely contradictory to other states.
I carry legally but I doubt there would ever be a scenario where I could protect my life here and not go through some serious scrutiny &/or jail time.
Pretty sure I am moving to Colorado in the next few years.
