What issues have you had with your truck?
Power sliding rear window came off the track. Dodge had the great idea of making it 1 sealed unit so the whole rear window section has to be replaced to fix it. -Not gonna happen
Passenger side power mirror stopped working
Right turn signal flashes fast every 3rd or 4th time I use it like a bulb is out.
Left rear brake light is intermittent
ABS and Brake lights are on saying the VIN doesn't match the VIN in the ABS module, probably means it's crapped out. - Not gonna happen
Has the typical 06 tachometer failure incoming. It reads 500rpm at idle now so it will be going out in the next couple thousand miles. The whole cluster has to be replaced to fix it. -Not gonna happen
I think the fucking blend door in the HVAC broke when I went from cold to heat 2 weeks ago. I know how susceptible these things are to breaking so I only move the adjustment knob twice a year and it still broke. So the AC works but it is stuck blending with a little heat. It's not a big deal now but it will be in the spring and fixing it requires pulling the dash or trying to fish it through a vent. -Not gonna happen
Couple that with the fact that it is at 105k miles now so it will need a clutch soon ($1200), the harmonic balancer is going to need replacing($400), and I'm starting to get the faintest puff of smoke on a cold start (Injectors need to be pulled and checked $500-$2500 depending on what is found)... I think now is a good time to PUNT it without taking any loss. You very rarely see a cummins truck on a dealer lot around here without a billion miles and I've never seen a 6 speed. I know I can get good money for it on trade with a couple little things and some shine. The paint has been kept in very good shape and it has NO rust even though it spent most of it's life in Michigan.
If I get the ABS and Brake light off, fix the blinker issue and the brake light issue I'll head to the dealer when they get a trade in I like. Fair trade in on the truck is still 18k ish. Good condition is closer to 20. The trucks I'm looking at are going for $23k-$26k. If I can get 18k on trade I'll only be financing $13k-16k on a 1-3 year old truck with under 40k miles and factory warranty remaining. I would keep my current loan terms and have it paid off in 2 years. That one I could keep for a while.

Oh I completely agree with you there. My buddy has an 05 mega cab with 120K miles. The drivetrain is perfect but the truck is falling apart around it

Edit- To his credit the thing does look nice and it tows a big ass trailer like its not there
It's a common theme. It's sad considering how basic the interior is and the electronics SHOULD be. I wanted a GM truck to start with but they were out of the price range I was looking at back then. 08 silverados were $30k with nice options and 07 up duramax trucks started at 30k for a work truck model.
