I would have figured 17 would be fine with 450 . How are those bfg radials over all would you say ? Maybe I'll get brave and get.my.doors blown off in x275 lol . Doubt I would be able to hook with an 8 inch slick without that sick suspension but it would benpretty funny lol . Building the car to have fun. Do some grudge racing around Michigan and what not .drive it to a few big races ect . I need to hurry up and scoop up my engine I'm getting antsy lol . You know a site for the rims that has more than just one brand on it so I can compare ?
The BFG's are stickier than the old nitto 555R's and probably about the same as the new Nittos. The Hoosier and MT radials are pretty even these days. The stickier the tire the less life you will get out of them. It is as much a part of the pay to play mentality as worse fuel economy. You will want the MT 275 pros or the Hoosier radials. Both have good followings. The MT measures a bit taller in the same size.
None of these tires hook worth a fuck unless you heat them up. The best I could get out of the BFG's on stock suspension with bilstein shocks and no front sway bar (lol audiquattro) was mid 1.7x's in my 6 speed formula. This was using a gentle slip cuz 10 bolt.
How much power did the fastest car you have ridden in make? Just curious. Anything over 500whp can blow away a set of drag radials on the street if the surface sucks or it's cold. Anything over 400whp will blow off most street tires. My 450whp wouldn't hook first at all, would spin through most of second, and break loose again in third at peak torque with the OEM Goodyear Eagle F1's. I did get a 2.0 60' out of them once lol.
Your car won't meet the safety requirements for X275 because the rules are written for low 8 and high 7 second cars. You need to be looking at Real Street and eventually Ultra street maybe.
