I wouldnt mind an LS engine, but the Camaros are garbage.


the boss 302 ls is also purpose built for laguna seca (ls duh) and has the rear seats removed for a structural cross brace bar to stiffen it up.

It also has ported heads and cams. I was giving them credit for reaching the same goal by a different path. I have seen stock displacement ls3's using stock head castings at 540whp. Ford is doing good things but as you start modding nothing beats available displacement on an N/A engine.


Its been shown over and over the GT500 is as fast or faster on a 1 lap sprint but over an average of 10+ laps the ZL1 eats it as the brakes fade on the GT500.

Quit with the pissing match. They are both nice cars built by good engineers. Mustang owners seem to have this ridiculous penis envy of GM because Ford has nothing to compete with the corvette. It seems like it causes a defensive over reaching complex. Just let it go. If Ford wanted to build a competitor they would.

Fmx is right, the zl1 has the upper hand on the tracks due to the gt500s shitty breaks that are whittled away to shit after 2 laps.

But for drag racing, the gt500 stomps the fuck out of the zl1.

They are similar cars no doubt, but the new camaro is such a let down. Id buy a classic camaro long before a mustang but the new ones arent very impressive.

Its not really a mustang owners only argument, but I get the point. And Im not arging that one can build a faster one for less money, hell a built LS Miata would probably beat a ZL1 and GT500 in at any track.
The LS Mustang isnt my cup of tea either but for a solid rear axle car its an impressive track car.

If only ford would bring back the GT...
Most of Fords higher end stuff with the exception of the LS edition is built more for drag and they definitely do well there. I was watching stock unmodified drags the other day and GTRs, Vipers, and ZL1s were loosing to GT500s.

And idk whats up with the GT500 brakes, you would think a nice set of Brembos would hold up well...


At the end of the day my car gets raped by either pretty easily...

Its the people's fault the 5th gen is so heavy and has bad visibility. When the concept was unveiled everyone screamed at GM pleading for them to change as little as possible. The 6th gen will be a ground up performance car.


That said, if you drive one, they did a remarkable job making it turn and stop as well as it does given the handicap. They turn like a 3400lb car not a 3900lb car. If you are completely jaded by the 5th gen's performance look at what the 1LE can do with very few changes. That package transforms the car. It is far too close to the LS3 C6 for a lot of people. That brings up my earlier point. The camaro is not the halo car, so it will always be handicapped to not hurt sales of the bottom level corvette. If they wanted to build a GT500 destroyer camaro they could. A lot of people wouldn't buy corvettes then. The lines are blurred a lot more than they used to be. The 1LE and ZL1 are no joke against a base or z51 c6. I think that is due to the large difference between the two cars. They used to be a lot closer in size and weight.

No doubt that the 5.0 is the best car in its price range though.

C&D ran a 3:00.50 in the shelby and a 3:01.50 in the 1LE. This guy went a few seconds quicker but its still close enough to show faith in the C&D results. The same guy did a 2:52 in the ZL1 and Mero did a 2:45 in the ZR1.
