I personally like the r6, not as omg you got a gixxer cool. but the gsx doesn't have a 18k redline. I really like the r6, I came from riding a 500cc Yamaha 2 stroke dirt bike.. not much difference in power, just weight its a little harder to balance but overall pretty close.. you don't have to have a 1000.. there isn't a road in America where you can wrap it out. 600 -750 would be a great starter bike ... end of story

600s are fine. I started riding on a kawi so I've stuck with them.

R6's torque comes in quite high but it will carry you all the way to the limiter. Only downside I found with them was that for every day riding, the stance while riding the bike is too aggressive and was uncomfortable.

This is exactly why I haven't liked the R6 for years. My long arms do not like the riding position. The ZX6R and GSXR600 are a much nicer fit for me. The CBR600RR is in between the ZX6R and R6.

I might buy an R6 if I decide to man up next season

To OP:

I'm 5'7 and I had to lower my ninja by 2-3 inches so that I could plant my feet flat on the ground while stationary. Just something to look out for.

Flat footed is over rated. As long as you can get a toe down you are g2g.

Yeah, I'm 5'9 so it's something I'll look out for.

I can't go over 3500 at this point though and I can't find the right bike for this price... Might have to wait another year.

Being a student sucks :(

there are tons of 600's that are around 04 05 around me that got for 3500 all day. i personally have owned a ninja 650 and now currently own a gsxr 600. the ninja 650 had lower end torque and had a decent amount of power for being a parallel twin, but the gsxr has a crazy amount of power. mine is a 2000 model so its carb'd only paid a couple grand for it and it had 8k miles.. so you can find a good deal on one easily!! just search harder. if you have never rode before, i would try to restrain from "showing off" until youre more comfortable.. just saying. but the 600's are easy to throw around and im 6' and i fit perfectly. the ride is comfy and smooth. my vote is for a GSXR.
