Seriously next year I'm going to be buying myself a 240z.....I know it's sad but I've wanted one since watching Wangan Midnight....I'm going to do mine essentially exactly like yours although it's going to be blue....I want the flares and the fender mirrors.

How much should one of these cost? I see a rust-free one in Long Island for 6500, doesn't run but the interior looks mint. If I do buy one of these I want a perfect shell to start with....I'm sure 10 grand will net me a really nice one?

Depends. If you want to go fuel injection, I'd recommend a 280z, and swap over some 240 bumpers. You'll already have rear discs, a r200 (beefier) rear end, and it is setup for fuel injection from the factory.

If you go the route I'm going, with a 240, you'd have to redesign your fuel system a bit to make it be able to handle the injection system.

There is no such thing as a rust free Z. And if you were serious about it, be willing to ship from elsewhere in the country. You will still save yourself thousands of dollars, and hundreds of hours of repairs. Even if it cost a grand to get it to you.

Search the classifieds on Hybridz.org. I feel you'd have the best luck getting something decent there.

10 grand is about what I believe you'd have to spend to get a (preferably running) 240.

The 240 is definitely the most sought after, so they command the highest prices.

You can pick up 280zs for dirt cheap comparatively.

Another thing to note. There are basically NO BOLT ONs for these cars, so you will most likely have to design and fabricate a lot of stuff yourself if you are serious. (Something I regrettably found out later)

I'm definitely going fender mirrors too. Passenger door has the mirror shaved, and I have a real nice driver's door I'ma paint to eliminate the stupid bullet mirror. I'ma make mine outta carbon :)

I want to run a carbed turbo L28.

Your Z will basically look exactly like the one I want...so jelly. You even have the wheels. Or I can always just do an RB26. First thing is first though, I need to find myself a good candidate and just shove it away somewhere.

I wish i had half the patience that you do when it comes to finish work...

The amount of detail in this project is top notch! Pat yourself on the back, this is one of the very few threads I look forward to watching on this site.

Blow through carbs are sexy as hell. Really rare, and really expensive, unfortunately. I'd of done it too, but I would have ended up spending the same if not more for the blow through setup, than my standalone.

But I get super boners for that old school awesomeness.

Thanks for the kind words Jimmy! Hopefully I can keep it up!

Made some pretty decent progress this evening. Spent a couple hours, and leisurely pulled the entire rear end out of the car.

The rear end (a $hit-tastic clunky r180) was most certainly the weakest link in my system.

Now I've got a blank canvas to work from. Definitely a milestone.

I hated looking at that garbage in there.

It's going to look sooo much better when I put all my goodies back in there. More wonderful detail work!

I still need to buy camber plates for the rear, which I may order this evening, and then I start focusing on brakes, and a limited slip differential. I'm currently eyeing an OS Giken Super Lock R200. *Droooools*

Tomorrow or the next day I am expecting the first stages of my brake upgrade (1" wilwood master cylinder, and an adjustable proportioning valve)

Also expected this week is the majority of my EDIS parts.

I'm making ground on all fronts.

Wouldn't that be fun!

Today I got the beginnings of my braking system upgrade.

Now I am busily planning exactly "how do I make it all work?". Once I confirm I will update with much more detail.

Tomorrow my EDIS stuff comes, and I am pretty sure I'm gonna rip the motor out one more time to install the 36-1 pulley, and various mounts... etc.

It will also give me plenty of real estate to work on brake line stuff. Luckily I have designed everything to be easily worked on/pulled, so in a matter of around an hour or so I will have the engine out of the car.

I just need to get my engine puller back from a friend first (tomorrow probably). Seems like a lot of work, but it will honestly save me time in the end. Frustration too.
