Trying to buy a motor from a friend that has a ZL560 Camaro and I'm trying to swap his L99 into my car.

Only thing is, I don't have a single clue about these motors besides they mainly only come in auto. Can you bolt on a T56 or is there even an option in swapping to a manual tranny?

It's an LS3 with VVT and DoD without lightweight hollow stem intake valves.

That's pretty much it. You can buy a DoD VVT delete kit with whatever cam you want.

I'm reading around and seeing that they mentioned it's best off to maintain the VVT system but delete the AFM. I guess it's more of how raw you want a steak.

Did a lot of digging and found some great answers there, thanks. Now I'm confident enough to buy the motor.

99% of your decent sized cams will delete VVT as well. It helps pick up a little power under the curve but it is not continuously variable.

It will make 490whp with a big cam and no head work other than springs.

I would imagine it's already making about 490whp in stock form. The supercharged L99 that is.
