something "sounding better" is relative to personal opinion but in matters of fact a synthesizer by itself cannot make the same pitches or tones that a real bass drum can make and for that reason will never be used for anything other than rap/techno etc where it's all done on the computer

you will never make a drum machine sound like a drum

Oh really, with correct equipment, it can be done, but it would be difficult trying to get the echo and vibrations of the drums. You can replicate it pretty well.
