I've owned two cars with CVTs. Both were Dodge. I did not modify the cars in anyway, they were both economical 4 cylinders with little power and never had any issues with the CVT. I thought the transmission was smooth and overall was a nice drive.

My First one I had, which i gave to my niece, still drives fine and never had an issues. It was a 08 Caliber now with 110k miles.

my mom and dad looked at one of those calibers with the cvt and my dad couldnt handle not being able to feel it shift. they went back with the avenger like theyve bought the past 3 times or so.

looking to possibly get a vehicle (subaru) with automatic trans. that may have a CVT (transmission), I know the obvious pros and cons, my question is if you had the choice to get a vehicle with a CVT or without a CVT (regular automatic transmission) which would you choose and why?

you pretty much answer your question yourself

if you prefer better mpg, less power, no shifting..etc etc then go with a cvt...I have a '12 lancer for like 4 years and a half and I have nothing agains't it apart from the obvious cons that everyone knows about

Cars with CVTs generally have less power because the transmission cannot handle as much power.

On my car
The rpm will cap out at 3k...4k...5k...etc and will stay at that rpm and keep accelerating...the rpm will eventually go down once you reach your speed

On a normal automatic or manual transmission...your rpm will go from 1.5k- 2k to 4-5-6-7k ++ and that will give you more power because you use the full power of a gear before switching to another one..my cvt will instead shift as soon as it can so you never get that full power peak...it is no big deal for me..but it is something you need to be aware of

Sorry to burst your bubble, friend.
But this isn't true at all.

A CVT transmission is programmed to sit at peak power output when at WOT, giving you maximum acceleration.
It's just that their inner workings shred under high load. So they're not ideal for racing.

if you get 2012+ you should be able to get CPO on any vehicle under 50k miles til atleast 75k

also if you are doing first time financing most financing companies will force the dealership to give you a warranty or they won't approve you
