Own a g37s coupe

Good side:
Rides nice
Exhaust sounds great stock
Interior
Inexpensive to insure

Bad side:
Parts + labor (not so bad if you can do the stuff yourself)

Also depends what you need. Is awd a need?

My opinion:

Lexus exterior some models look really nice, however, the name to me is an "expensive toyota".
BMW's are nice, exterior isn't my preference, unless it's the M series.
All new Audi's are nice as well, especially the S series.
Lincolns not a chance.
Acuras to me never been appealing, just an "expensive honda".
Not a fan of infinities, but the G37 is pretty nice. I've never cared for the exteriors of any of the cars, the new SUVs look pretty nice though.

As for quality parts, performance, etc it depends on which series you are looking at by these brands.

tl;dr if you are going for luxury, BMW or Audi S#.

I look for compact SUV's manufactured from 1984 to 2001 that use the 4.0L straight six and are four wheel drive.

this is actually what i'd like to avoid, buying an expensive version of a standard car

what exactly am i paying for in luxury cars that makes them worthwhile? i'd like to make sure i'm not buying the automotive equivalent of an iphone

Good points on some, but a Lexus LS flagship would not just be "an expensive Toyota"

If you're going to think like that, then you might as well say an Audi is just an expensive VW

That was the next step.

My Audi master tech friend works on VW overflow jobs when the Audi service department is slow. It's the same shit with different styling, more expensive materials, and more complex (unnecessarily) systems.
