Miata takes over 6 seconds to go 0-60.... Not only is it slow, but it looks "cheap." In my book, that means its not really qualified to be "sports car"

Porsche/Corvette/370z/etc... Those are sports cars.

Are you kidding me?......

alowsmallusually 2-passenger automobile designed for quick response, easy maneuverability, and high-speed driving

hitting fast 0-60 times isn't even in the definition.......

Your "book" means nothing to reality, and what the cars are actually defined as. Everything about a car isn't always calculated by 0-60 times....

A Jaguar F-Type which is over double the price of a BRZ, has 180 more hp and only does 0-60 a second faster.....big whoop. 0-60 times are only one factor of the whole package.

I've seen some form of new miata with kind of a wide body

looks clean, wasn't even sure what it was at first

This is the 2017 hardtop Miata released at this weeks show.

I would love to drive this thing, it's beautiful.

my only definition of a sports car is, if it handles and stops great, then it's a sports car. Power doesn't matter to me. Same goes for drivers.

Never liked the Miata, but this is appealing.

Believe me, I never cared a bit about them until this new generation. It's very sharp.

And while I very much love my brz, and most people go for faster cars, this new Miata generation performs better than the brz in nearly everything except body roll.

They still make these god damn things???

Back to your recent comments, I understand what today's automakers and journalists classify cars as. To be honest, they are a lot different than what most car enthusiasts would classify things as.

I'm not saying you are right or wrong, but let's be honest. When someone says sports car. Does miata come to your mind first?

Me either.

On a side note, how long have they made these??? I remember them from back in highschool as a popular small block ford swap

Yes, a Miata comes directly into mind when someone says sports car......just like a Porsche does.

I'm sorry you're not open-minded and can't stray away from hp figures.

The miata/brz are DEFINED as entry-level sports car (the Miata being a sports roadster) and they both fit 4.5/5 of the characteristics of the sports car specification.
