Yeah my vette is worth less than MSRP on a base model silverado lol.

Good luck with the rat rod

Yeah i picked up my 04 for 3k, granted its a w/t 4.8 but theres zero rust low miles and very well maintained, i was going to buy a 16 duramax but even with my employee discount, i just couldn't justify it

Pretty sure ive decided im going to go ahead and order a 6.0 in the next week or two on ebay and start building, think ill put a cam and mill the heads, good gaskets and bolts and maybe some 1.9s but idk, kinda mixed feelings about upping the rocker ratio and ill try and peddle the 4.8 as soon as the 6.0 is ready

Vette ever been down the track?

Not with me it hasn't. I'm doing a 1/2 mile race in may. It should do 170+. Don't fuck with the rockers. The stock rockers are perfect. Very strong and lightweight. Buy a comp cams trunion upgrade for them if you want to do something to them. It keeps the needle bearings from coming apart. Call Thompson motorsports. Kyle can hook you up with a rebuilt 6.0 short block with forged pistons for about what you can buy the parts for. Save yourself some hassle. Don't mill the heads too much, anything under 65cc on the 317 heads will hurt flow.

Ill have to consider that, im not really intending on making big power im sure a later model iron 6.0 block should do me just fine, but if the price is right theres no sense in buying a complete 6.0 i guess.

Just have to figure out the plan for finances, and have to get started soon b4 i sell my old truck lol

Looking into their site i think ill be buying a used motor, thought they are "reasonable" i can do everything at home, and i pay the same for gaskets/rings/bearings as they do through nickles so why not, few 12 packs and a few nights after work is all i need lol

yet another week of no progress on my things, but i did get a tire for the monte meaning i can drive it again, going to change the plugs and put a few miles on it next week, hopefully fix the brakes and probably put the window seals and stuff back in the car since im probably not going to paint it until next year (i said that this time last year and now i picked up the truck project), needs a legal seatbelt and shes ready to go.. again hoping for mid 10s out of her

Changed the oil in the silverado and thought it had sort of a red tint to it (marvel?), leaving the shop today i noticed a little lifter noise but... psh they all have lifter noise lol, my buddys tbss has lifter noise at 70kmiles.. not concerned

At any rate... everythings done on the rat rod, drive shaft, wiring, fuel pump, pulleys, fans primed the motor and filled the rad to start it tonight and the radiator leaks and the starter is siezed, and @ 11pm i decided to call it a night as i have work @ 6 lol so the rat will run/drive this week and thats really exciting as we've been pushing it in and out of the shop for 3 years now, 2 years with a full spool (fuck that)

matt got offered big $ for the rat last week and decided not to take it :bonk: so i guess shes here to stay, will post pics of the build soon, just have to motivate myself to upload then lol

A short video of the rat rod out front of the shop tonight, another long 13 hour day but the truck runs and that makes me very happy

454bigblock,th400,10bolt with full spool and 3.73s, we're hoping its going to be able to run 7.50s 1/8 mile, if not...... she gets the juice lol

Not a very serious bracket car, we built it to bring to car shows, it brings in a ton of customers at the shop (exhaust shop) and of course.. cruise around in it, and no... no we aren't painting it lol

matts dad put a sbc alternator bracked and spaced it with wheel studs like a boss but needed another shim or two, thats why the belts slipping incase u were wondering or noticed lol

bump so this doesn't expire

Me and matt now own a combined 4 gbodys and im considering a red 79 malibu if i can get it at the right price as a candidate for ls swap daily so maybe soon to be 5

Matt bought a 83 malibu wagon but the guy that sold him the car (no longer a friend of ours) decided to leave out the fact that the 8.5" rear was bad, we tried to replace the gears but to our surprise the housing is bad and it can't be settup properly

So tomorrow is gbody day, swapping rears from the cutlass to the wagon so matt has a ride, also going to pull the th350 for a th400 because theres no point in having a new drive shaft made for the 350 and the 9" to resize later for a 400 when the 350 breaks, new brakes for my car all the way around, gonna put in the 6pt harness finally so the car can legally race events and such.. probably not gonna commit since fx is the only one that probably reads this post but... maybe lol guess it would make a good thread in the help section of the monte carlo forum ... MAYBE

9 " is now in the malibu and 8.5" now in the cutlass (the cutlass needs wiring motor trans and drive shaft, but its a real nice stock suspension car whenever we get time)

sorted all the bs out in the malibu and ended up having to rescue matts dad in the rat rod, rag joint fell apart (stock from the 70s camaro front end we front halved the truck with) so that took 2 hours out of the day but the 1500 towed like a champ, though it really really hates the empty trailer lol

Ended up deciding to go home and get some rest, we didnt even get my car to matts shop yesturday so im going to go over to moms house and do the breaks and then whenever matt has time we'll tow it to the shop do the brakes and harness and go through all the little stuff.
