Would you hate if I told you the main reason why I'm buying the C7 is because it is the "best" car for $80k or under in terms of looks (both inside + outside) and sounds nice (exhaust).

I could almost care less about 0-60 or quarter mile times so long as its meets the aforementioned criteria. I feel like I will never be able to use all 460HP to its fullest potential, so that's just a "bragging" factor more than anything. Of course, it is fun to have a gg engine, but not deal breaker for me if it doesn't.

Everybody will already know you didn't get the car to use it. You got the automatic.

What about something like the new Camaro SS where the automatic is actually faster all around than the manual?

The Auto is faster than the manual for C7 too. As well as with many other cars. Heck GTRs don't even offer manual, but people still buy them up.

Manual drivers feel superior and belittle automatics despite any reasoning/logic. You live in an area with bad traffic? Don't matter, get manual. The car will be slower? Don't matter, get manual. etc...

Typically people that enjoy the driver to car connection like a manual transmission. I understand the need for both. The 8 speed is one hell of a design. You still can't replace the feel of a manual though. A friend of mine had his UGR Gallardo converted to manual because he wanted to shift his own gears even though it is slower. He owns a trans shop.

I didn't even think it was possible to convert an auto into a manual, that's pretty cool.

Another thing to consider as well is your passenger too. I dunno about you, but from what I've seen, women generally like the smoother shift of automatics. My girlfriend for one hates the jerkier feel of the manual shift.

Call me a bad driver or whatever, but I don't think manuals can never quite replicate the same smooth gear shifts (except maybe with the assistance of rev match or something); and at that point, its more hybrid than manual.

Who cares which one is faster? It's a drivers car, its about the experience. There's a reason they didn't offer the Z06 in an automatic. It wasn't the model built for females and 80 year old men.

When it comes to cars, its generally a bad idea to target a subgroup of an already small group. Not many people can afford an $80K+ car in the first place, if you further limit your market to only manual drivers, you'll soon find yourself in the same spot as the SRT Viper. That's just poor business strategy. GM understood this and released both auto and manual so that everyone who wanted the car can drive it. Now the C7 is the bestselling 2-seater in America and ranked 4th in sports car sales.
