uhhh my buddies car is almost never in the shop... Just because it's a high HP 4 cyl doesn't mean it's any harsher on the internals than a high HP v8. If the build and tune are good the car will hold together perfectly fine.

Also people commneting on launching slow, with the right suspension and tires they 60' just fine compare to RWD and AWD cars. If the car is strictly for the strip very low 60's are achievable.
Yes we are all aware that high hp street cars 60' like shit but this kid is talking about making it a track car.

also his b20 is perfectly fine base to start with, stroke it out and boost it properly and his hp goals are achieved on that current motor(well maybe not that on in there now but same block)

also reading comprehension at it's finest here.

Do you know how compression and displacement works?

I'm done here.

My 99 ex civic coupe.
Car is professionally tuned on Neptune and made 300whp/218tq reliably @ 8lbs.

Engine:
-Built and boosted b20v.
-b20b block with rod bolts.
-b16 head. (Port & polish, supertech Springs, valves and retainers, ctr cams)
-b16 trans for short gears.
-440cc injectors.
-t3/t4 ebay turbo for now.
-tail wastegate and bov.
-in process of running exhaust out the hood.

Exterior:
-si grill.
-si front lip.
-blox full racing suspension.
-blox front & rear camber kits.
-bwr polished lca's and subframe brace.
-traklite 15x8.25 10et 165/45's(getting radials soon)

Interior:
-gutted from rear seats back.
-bride low max seats with harness bar and harnesses.
-gsr dual bend short throw.
-type r shift boot.
-getting full cage and ready for track soon.

A lot more im missing but those are most of whats done.

Im getting ready to tear it down and get it ready for track. Build block, bigger turbo, slick, etc...

Looking to make around 600-700whp and around 500tq when its done over the winter.

I think you should keep it around 300hp. 600-700 hp will be stupid in a fwd 4cyl.

imo

This, and 600 hp isn't going to get him to a 9 second 1/4 mile.

Sorry, I'm stuck on this.

Im still on the fence about building for track.

My car pulls hard as it sits now. Beat 3 of my buddies sti's by 1+ cars from 40 rolls.

I've been wanting to buy an e30 or 240sx shell and build it up myself and start drifting. Never owned a rwd car and would like to experience it.

Displacement has nothing to do with wear if you again re-read my comment. A high HP 4 cyl will not die any faster than a high HP v8. If they are both making the SAME hp then yes the higher displacement engine will most likely last longer, but that is also not a given. If the tune and build on the 4 cyl is solid they will both last just fine.

What? It seems like half way through this, you realized you were wrong.. I'm not trying to argue, this is a fact.. In order to get 600 hp out of a 4cyl engine, it takes a SHIT load of compression because it's displacement is so small, and it's impossible n/a, vs if you wanted to get 600 hp out of a 454, it's a whole lot easier..

I'm seriously not sure why you're arguing this... I've had a 430hp fwd turd.. I blew it up.. And I've had a 390hp 351, I ran the dog shit out of it, and it's still running today.

It's literally physics.. With more displacement, you get more power.

I said a HIGH hp 4cyl which is 600 hp, that's not really that high of hp out of a v8... You have a 430 hp fwd srt 4, is the motor built? Because if they are built right they handle 500+ easy and last. As I said a properly built 4 cyl is no less or more likely to blow vs a similarly raised hp v8.

A properly built and tuned car will last perfectly fine. Whether it be 4 cyl or 8

also 600 hp does not need insane compression to hit there, a turbo built for that HP rating will get it there with perfectly safe compression.

I never argued 600 hp out of a 454 is noteasier, but a ~200% increase in hp like your getting out of the 4 cyl a 200% increase in power out of the 454 will be equally reliable.

We aren't argueing which car will make more power, in a 1800 pound car you need a lot less hp to run similar times to a heavier car making more power.

Yeah insane compression isnt needed..

My friends gsr stock block big turbo build made 727hp and ran 10.2's on a shitty day. He's made over 100 passes on this build and nothing has broke except minor small fixes.
