Uh you'll have immense difficulty getting approved for a $20,000 car if you make $10/hour at a non ridiculous interest rate let alone $40,000. And I consider anything above 4.9% a ridiculous interest rate on a car. If you make ten bucks an hour your credit rating is likely non existent or not very good, so you are only going to get approved by your bank at a terrible rate (around 10% or worse) or a potentially even more predatory loan at a used car dealership.

Other wise I agree it's not that hard to afford an expensive car, if you budget correctly (easier said then done) and are willing to accept longer term. Though I wouldn't recommend it.

Other 11,000 could complete the car, nvidia exhaust, high flow cats, intake, coilovers, race tune, sticky performance tires and still have over what... 7000 for whatever you want. 342 HP to the wheels. Enough power for whatever you want and the auto manumatic tranny in it is like a gtr little brother.

The 370z is a great buy, especially with their recent price decrease, but it is much bulkier than it needs to be.

It will be interesting to see what Nissan will do next. They talked about a "smaller" z, but haven't said much since.

stay away from ricer cars. if you're coming from a cayman you're going to hate some of these japanese classics. Go with a e90/92 m3 if you don't care about mpg. or save a little and get a 13 boxster S or 14 Cayman S, the new design and engine is pretty amazing. previous gen cayman s is pretty good too if you dont mind the body.
