Sure one is generally barley and the other corn, but when it comes down to it, scotch just refers to where it was distilled.
Im an amature in liquor? Scotch is whiskey barreled in Scotland, aged in unsmoked oak barrels for at least 3 years. It picks up a lot of tanin and flavor I can't stand. Batch 7 is aged completely differently, they smoke the oak, they filter the whiskey through different types of charcoal blah blah blah.
scotch Whiskey has a legal definition, and no.. Batch 7 made in Scotland isn't scotch..
I just don't like scotch, ive had a bottle of Chivas Regal from the Queens coronation in my liquor cabinet for years, that's a very expensive bottle of scotch. I just hate scotch.
