Wood chips from portable chippers, hauling to pulp mills. Only trucking racket here to make a decent pay cheque and be home every night.

Only been doing this since March when the oil prices plummeted and massive layoffs started. Was in Alberta up until then. Hauled frac sand/chemicals then went into a frac operator job for the winter to make $.

Got a job, feels good.
had 2 interviews, one company had way too many red flags. Other one actually seems decent. Pay is pretty much exactly what I wanted to be at, with no exp and all ( maybe even better ). We just been going over some basics, backing into docks. Once my truck is out of the shop I'm gone. Assigned me a 2015 star (iirc), abd my route is almost always 4 days out, with the option of in town work Friday/Saturday

E/ arnone is the company.

E2/ to tsl on page 2 ( if you see this) they pay 41 cents Mile and 16:50 hourly for all the other shit. Fueling up, circle checks, waiting, everything. So it's not a bad gig. I spoke with 3 drivers today, that have been there 16,19, and 25 years. Obviously they can keep employees happy.

Glad you found something.
The 16.50 hourly probably kicks in after waiting 2 hours like most companies. Fueling (all of 10 minutes) and your pre-trip (all of 10 minutes) are usually on your own time as it's part of the job don't imagine you put in for it.
How are you liking it anyway?

No it's during all my pre trip stuff. It's the incentive to actually get out and do it. Their way of promoting it I guess, I can see how it would work .

So far it's nit bad. They've got me backing into docks and other weird spots to get used to it a little more. And a hand full of small trips around town delivering trailers

Won't this be a fully automated industry in the next 15 or 20 years?

You should learn to weld...

And their are alreafy machines that weld in place of people.....

Our lives depend entirely on trucking. Think about it. No truck, no ass wipe, no gas for your cars, no out sourced foods, everything. If it only lasts 15-20 years so be it. Someone is still going to have yo maintain them, I'll get on that wagon.

And besides the fact I spent the better part of my teens welding for the grandparents and all 4 years of high school.

It will never be "fully" automated. Not in our life time I wouldn't imagine.
Maybe the highway trucks, sure why not.
But off-road trucking(what I do) like forestry/oilfield a computer could never handle the conditions, mud/snow/ice, roads giving away, wash outs etc etc
