The point is the cars are selling under msrp because they aren't moving enough of them, because they're over priced. Gm isn't going to make even more overpriced cars that won't sell. They're going to have to be smart how they go about this Z06, or it could cost them. Especially with all of the other performance cars coming out priced below the Corvette.

and yes msrp is 50k on a BASE 2014 but you won't get one anywhere close to msrp right now

and yes, this is the real point, less than 6 months after their launch, the "North American Car of the Year" is already selling under MSRP

The base c7 is within 2k of the last base C6. There are more options on the C7.

Why would these cars be selling under msrp if they were selling at an acceptable rate? Dealerships just trying to be nice?

What cars don't sell below msrp when there is enough volume available? The dealer is still making money unless they are selling a good bit below invoice, not msrp. Their competition is each other. He who offers the lowest price sells the most volume. Bigger dealerships usually roll with that strategy. Motorcycles are the same way. The manufacturer kickback is enough to make it profitable. We would sell a 12k msrp bike for 10500 when the invoice was 10000. At the end of the year we would get 500-750 from the manufacturer for that sale. 1k profit+happy customer+another bike to service.
