I actually work with someone who has a brand new turbo diesel.

What's your thought process with the '90s? I mean everyone has their own opinion.

E/ on my phone cant see the pic :/

cause the 4th gen jettas > 3rd gen (and 1999 was the cut off)

should be easy to do a quick google and find out the differences/issues if you're really interested B)

I don't think he does his own mechanic work.  Some models from the 90's can be more reliable than most newer things,  Hondas for example.

The Saturn joke is they burn a lot of oil at high mileage.  Seriously though they can't be beat for a beater/pizza delivery car for what they cost. I see them on Craig's list for $500-$1000 all the time.  The 5 speed versions are actually quite reliable if you make sure it has a new timing belt on it, the whole body is plastic so you won't get door dings from carelessness etc. it won't rust.

couldnt be more true mine burned so much oil

High mileage being 75,000?

And in my van I have to change the oil every 3,000 miles. So how does that compare to Saturn?

OK great guys. Now with the confrontation. A few questions.

Are you supposed to low ball them then go back and forth to meet in the middle?

Their sticker price is the money they want. And this does not mean cash, correct? Which is why if you pay in cash you can get a much better deal? How much cheaper can you get a car if you pay completely with cash?

depends really some dealerships wont move at all. but some you can talk down a lot there is no real set price that they drop it just varies on how bad they want to sell the car.

I always ask them for their very best out the door price. And have them write down what everything comes out to. From there you can offer lower or say you are working with a lower budget than they are asking for. Having them write down prices can let you know if they are trying to screw you on dealership fees, which will also help you when it comes time to talk final prices. Don't low ball them too much or they might not take you seriously. Like Justin said, depends on how motivated they are to move the car

Ty.

Idk I can't decide. Should I drop some money on a nicer car or just buy a beater? I would really hate to spend a lot of money on something I can easily destroy.

My advice is always to buy a beater for your first. My sons will be getting old crap when they come of age.
