any car gets around with winter tires, that simple, i lived in the mountains when i was driving my suzuki swift... never had issues, then my cavalier, never had issues, drove the service trucks from work in the mountains and d-town mtl in shitty weather, just be carefull and nothing goes wrong, here its the law to have winter tires, but i highly suggest you buy some even if its not the law if your in a state that gets snow

when driving on snow covered roads the most important thing is to have extra weight on your drive tires. tire size doesnt really matter if you dont have weight to get/keep traction. if you have a truck you can simply get a small scoop of sand (it comes in handy if you do get stuck throw it under the tires to aid with traction) and carry it around with you. a little extra weight goes a long way.

You are convinced wide mud tires are better for your every day winter driver !!! are you fucking kidding me ???
Seriously man this is common knowldge and been so for years. I can understand if your 17 and only seen one winter. But try some 10.5s or somehing stop being a nieve son of a bitch.
Fact of the matter is hes going to be driving in the mountins, that shit is dangerous regardless, dont be stupid about it and run tsl's unless you want to ditch it.

Im done arguing this, learn for your self or dont argue

My tsl super swampers on my old Isuzu Trooper were 31x10.50

from my own personal experience with my parents wrangler a few years back when it had the bigger tires on it it sucked in the snow. i mean it could get itself just about anywheres with enough effort but once i swapped some snowtires on thing was much better. for a dd ON ROAD. offroad obviously is a different scenario and not at all what you asked about..

anyhow if you got a good 4wd or awd veichel you should have no problems just so long as you drive slow. and uphill always try and keep the speed you had at the bottem of the hill. if you slow to almost a stop itll be alot harder to reach the objective.

I live in NC Mountains, so good question for me. :)

Having never drivin in the snow till I moved here years ago it wasn't hard to be honest.
If you are going to work or have to drive in it, just be like super fucking careful...and you should be fine as long as everyones doing the same.

I drive a RWD Camaro in the snow (my daily/only car) I drive 50 miles a day in the snow with it, I jus leave early and do literally 20-45 all the way there, and try to stay behind a snowplow if possible.
No problems yet.

Also I see you saying you are gonna purchase a 4wd truck, id use it as extra safety measure and not so you can go faster...
Funny seeing these 4wd trucks fly past you doing 55 thinking they are invincible with it...then 2 miles down the road you see them in a ditch. Seen that many times.

Lived in AK for 7 Years. It can be rough on some days around hair pin bends. 4x4 + studs or chains are needed at times.
