Current gen STI boxer swaps into this car would be killer....should fit right in with a FMIC....Not understanding why Subaru isn't seeing the potential there.

I read the article posted above...someone said that the head Subaru engineer said that the N/A boxer currently under the hood of these cars could rev to 9 grand with stronger valve springs....LOL.

no engine details yet. A similar concept used a twin charged engine pushing 325 hp

But how long would the motor last... And the heads might not flow enough at that point so it might be detrimental.

Agreed with Decom

My question is does the motor make any power above 6000?

What's the point of revs if the power falls off well before that point?

Edit: I just know reving to 9 grand and making power to 9 grand are two ENTIRELY different things.

I was just repeating what was said. I'm sure this motor was engineered to function within the ranges specified BUT has the potential to go to 9 grand. I'm sure head work and bigger cams would be needed, but with such you'd be hurting low-end performance. The only way to make that feasibly work would be VVT, but why waste the time and money on developing the tech for that engine when you can simply turbo it OR just pull the 2.5T from the current STi and just either use a fmic or make a hood with scoop for the top mount ( would keep in tune with the sti trademark and probably look pretty sharp)
