My Cummins started loping real hard at hot idle after pulling a pretty heavy load yesterday. I'm changing fuel filters and doing a couple simple tests. I still don't have any smoke on start up but it could be the first sign of an injector going bad, or the FCA, or a bunch of other things. If it holds out another week it's getting traded in for a 7,000 mile 2011 Silverado.

Sounds like the cp3 is about to take a dump on you.

When it starts loping, check for puffs of white smoke out the tail pipe. (they usually do this on start up rather than at idle after running but same shit. They can't hold the required pressure at idle and surge.)

It's either that or the truck heard you were trading it in and decided to show you how much power it has.

No smoke, blowby, or unusual noise under the hood. It isn't making or using oil. 21mpg on the last tank, power is normal. I'm going to look around a bit more but i'm trading it in at a chevy dealer so they won't even notice it imo.

It's not a huge deal. My 08 held on for 30k miles with a weak CP3. Only issue it ever gave was on startup at idle. Started fine, would lope a few times and then smooth out. Never bothered me lol

On an unrelated note, I saw the first C7 Z06 to be delivered to my local dealership yesterday. It was black and it had the Z07 package. They were kind enough to let me sit in it and they started it up for me inside the showroom.

This thing makes all previous corvettes look like playskool toys. Just wow.

Vengeance Racing dynoed theirs at 575whp bone stock and I think 600whp after a tune. Lashway motorsports put 2" long tube headers on theirs and tuned it. 578/553 stock, 621/590 with headers/tune. That is nuts for a car that is rated at 650hp/650tq from the factory. Some new and prospective owners started getting pissy about the car being detuned so much from the factory. GM released a statement that explained their reasoning. The car has a soft "break in" tune on it when it is brand new. The new ECM is adaptive. Over time, as it counts drive cycles, RPM, engine load, run time, and mileage it slowly releases power locked up in the tune. It leans it's own AFR out and adds timing. They said the end results should put the car within 5-10hp of the aftermarket tune. They also said if you were unhappy with that or too impatient there are several respected aftermarket tuners that can take care of you. That is a big step for a GM from the corvette program to recognize the aftermarket guys and condone a tune. Good stuff.

I think they realize who this car caters to. It's a damn GT car with leather, A/C, and NAV.
