It needs a plenum of some sort. ITB's with open trumpets=lots of lost power.

You really won't see much gain on any engine that doesn't already have an extremely aggressive build. You might net 4-5% hp increase but it isn't worth the money. ITB intakes for LS1's are over $4,000. It's not worth it.

The cool part about an ITB intake on a cammed car is that it completely eliminates intake reversion caused by the cam. Reversion is what causes the lope or "chop" of a big cam. The cylinder is sucking in burnt exhaust gases through the open exhaust valve at idle causing a controlled misfire. At RPM this doesn't happen and you get better airflow. Driveability suffers when you get into big duration cams. With an ITB intake a car with a giant cam will idle like stock.

ya paying $5,000 for around 50hp isn't really worth it lol

Nope. $5k will buy you the hotside for an extremely sick T6 flange turbo setup or an entire race ready 2 stage nitrous system with an intake already setup for Direct port.

For comparison the best OEM style composite intake for an LS engine is made by FAST (Fuel Air Spark Technology). They are ~$800. Guys that want to go past that get into custom sheetmetal intakes that cost $2k-$4k
