Between the Turbo and the Nitrous, that motor can overheat pretty quick if it isn't given enough cool air.

Air goes the other way past your car.

Unless the air turns around and goes into the gap, or he's driving in reverse, there is no reason for his hood to do that

so, if you have your window down like an inch, there's no air coming in?

There's also a possibility that he has his hood like that for clearence reasons since his turbo is mounted there. the turbo can get hot enough it would heat the hood in that one spot and could damage the hood.
