Yea, I hear you on that one. I drive an Integra that is 99% stock, but its loud as hell. Stock exhaust, no rust, no holes. Cant figure out why its so loud.

The internals of your cat probably shit itself. That, and you could have rust inside the stock muffler. Holes in the internal baffles will make it loud.

Its had emission problems in the past, so I dont doubt any of it.

Unless you've had the cat replaced, he's right. Buddy of mine had a stock CRX Si that sounded like a v6 because of his fucked up cat.

Not sure tbh, I live in CA so smog is strict as hell.

If your Teg is pre obd-2 just buy the Magnaflow cat from Kragen/Checkers (not sure what it's called out there) and you'll be fine.

Just replace it. I don't know how strict emissions are there and I don't have much experience with emissions. SC stopped doing emissions tests in like 1995. NC still has pretty standard emissions testing but I have friends there with race style long tube headers (no AIR or EGR emissions fittings) and off road Y pipes (no cats) that don't have a problem passing.

Im not sure how Maine is.

I didnt even know they checked emissions on basic cars in maine, i thought it was just trucks and shit
