So what's the issue with dodges low payload numbers?

I would assume its because of the coil springs.

Dodge is by far the cheapest. Chevy and Ford will be basically the same out the door. Go drive them imo. You aren't going to get a new one with $15k down and $400/mo payments unless you get a plain base model and finance it for 7 years. Sticker on my 2014 silverado was $50k and it's not even an LTZ or high country.

Wow, that's hard to believe. If anything, you mean brand new right? I'll have to build one on one of the sites to see for myself. I'm fine with a 2015 or 2016 under 20,000 miles. I don't want sky high payments...

Thanks for the feedback. Was considering throwing in the Tundra to my list of options...

The feedback I always hear around here are Ram's rust fast, Chevy's are the most durable and Ford's are cheap. I mean literally that's all I hear around here.
I haven't seen any newer Ram's rust though...

Ram's are the "meanest" looking trucks in my opinion. They are flashy and with that Hemi make them hard to turn down. The interiors are sharp too. Probably my favorite at this point.
Ford's are dependable but are real plain (cheap is the term) but I just love the new body styles (the interiors suck though from what I've seen, too basic for me).
Chevy's are sleek, new looking and pretty much leading the way in innovation. I'm just not a huge fan of the front of these trucks. Not horrible, just like Ram's front better. I also don't like how they change it about every year...

Where I'm at now:
1. Dodge
2. Chevy
3. Ford

I test drove a RAM 1500 sport and it was slick
i enjoyed the bells and whistles and the interior

personally i think the cleanest is the silverado, the new ones are so nice, and if you can afford the upgraded ones then well good for you

New trucks are only cheap if you get the stripped down work truck version (maybe 15k?)

IE, no extended bed, no crew cab, no extras....everything basic

My used budget is $25k-$32k (under 30k miles). I don't want standard editions. If I could get a new truck with solid features around $35-$40k that would be ideal which MAY be possible with RAM.
Chevy's seem to be the most expensive - almost out of my price-range (unless the wife has other ideas :P ). An LT model of features is solid but would love an LTZ model.

Dodge seems to have my needs and are in my price change.
My mind is pretty much set on RAM at this point...

Yeah, definitely want a Hemi. Wouldn't get a truck without a V8 engine and prefer the Hemi over any V8 on the market. Would most likely go with the 5.7 though.
Don't want a chrome package, prefer forged or alloy wheels.

Building a RAM online hasn't worked out well for me, the RAM's are much more expensive than I had originally thought. I'm pretty much dead set on a 1500 Big Horn.
A 2017 RAM 1500 BIG HORN CREW CAB 4X4 5'7" BOX starts at $44,000. More than likely I'll be buying a used 2015 or 2016 model.
