I seen a CVT on a 2003.
They've been around a while.

They're still just shit.

If we can make them handle torque, they're superior transmissions.
But we clearly don't have that capability because CVTs are not used in any racing league as far as I know.

Im talking specifically the Lineartronic CVT in subarus. Theyve only been around about 5 years or so i think.

If they didn't shred under high torque applications, they would be the best transmissions for racing.

Constantly being at peak power 100% of the time.

Read a story that a guy accidently drained his cvt fluid because it looked like a regular drain bolt for the engine oil. The dude had to take the car back to the dealer ship to fill it back up. Food for thought

from what i read

"with CVT you have to take it to the dealership/shop that has a computer for it. We hook it up to your car and it tells us how much to put in, and what temp. Its almost impossible to do it yourself and if not done right, you can mass up your car. Call your local Subaru dealership."

i dont really care really

I've owned two cars with CVTs. Both were Dodge. I did not modify the cars in anyway, they were both economical 4 cylinders with little power and never had any issues with the CVT. I thought the transmission was smooth and overall was a nice drive.

My First one I had, which i gave to my niece, still drives fine and never had an issues. It was a 08 Caliber now with 110k miles.
