idk about other states but in kentucky if its not mandatory court appearance you can talk to the prosecuting attorney and they can drop the charges without even going to court. idk if his ticket is mandatory court either.

should have your court date and maybe a box by court date stating if its prepayable.

here is a kentucky citation in the middle it has 2 boxes prepayable and court

They didn't give me any papers saying what I was charged with or when my court date was.
I had to ask the front desk of the county prison for my charges, and the court info is supposed to be given to me in 1-3 weeks.

They also detained me, searched my car, then read me my rights.

Innocent until proven guilty... The cop has a dash cam and many other tools at his disposal. If he can't produce anything to prove you were doing anything, you shouldn't even need a lawyer for this one. Also, I know in some states, if you go to court and the cop isn't there, the citation can just get thrown out.
