I just wanted it for the sound. Like you said it's a truck so even if I gained 40 (lol) it would still be slow.
I don't know much about this stuff but liked the idea so threw it out there cause I value your opinion.
I'll just throw a magnaflow on there and keep the stock single pipe I guess..will still have a nice rumble and is cheap with no worries.
Then I can save my money to put towards a new silverado like you just bought. :D

You can get a single in dual out Magnaflow so you can run duals after the muffle with dual tips if you like.

Like this, I don't know your pipe inlet diameter but this is close

just ok in what way? Because they are stainless? And they are available in many different sizes/tones from race car loud to almost stock?

Borla makes more expensive mufflers than magnaflow but they have a unique tone that is very deep. Both Borla and Magnaflow are tame at idle, aggressive at WOT (for a truck), and reserved on the highway. Different sizes are going to give you different volume levels in different places but the overall tone is similar. Those 18" magnaflows he posted are really common on 5.3's because they work. Generally speaking the larger the muffler the quieter it will be.

I personally prefer other ones.
And magnaflows, I'm sure a lot of people can agree with me are overrated. Seems that people automatically go to that without even knowing why.
Anyways I'm not going to tell somebody what to do with his truck lol

They know why, because they like the tone.

I bought MagnaFlow because its the best sounding muffler, lol. When you talk about full exhausts, my opinion changes. MagnaFlow makes great stuff for just about any application.. The only application I'd say I don't like it on is a small block ford, where Borla and Pypes sound WAY better.

You really shouldn't talk out of your ass about a subject you have no clue about, its shallow and redundant.

Thanks
Now I'm thinking I don't even wanna do a muffler alone.

I was thinking of having long tube headers and 3" true duals out the back with no cats and no mufflers, or dual magnaflows. Then taking it to PCMofNC and having it tuned.
My largest concern is the CEL coming on, but won't a tune from them remove that issue?
Also they can dyno before and after. :D

Obviously I don't know a lot about this stuff.

Wait so... you want something quite on the highway but are talking about headers and straight pipe 3" with no cats or mufflers? First off you want some back pressure on a N/A motor or you will be paying money to lose power... also the sound would be insanely obnoxious to the point that you can't hear anything inside the cab lol. ever hear a straight pipe truck taking off and driving? It's those ones that make all that noise without going anywhere :P

The people that run "flows" around here are usually very country and want it loud. They don't know what drone is and they don't care because the mud tires are louder on the highway than the exhaust.

Imposing a restriction in the exhaust never made more power and it never will. In small engines it can be used to tune low end torque production. On bigger engines all of that tuning is done in the exhaust manifold or header. Post manifold the better your merge or crossover flows the better, and the better your muffler flows the better.

Obviously not
I was considering just a muffler or everything I said, I wanted to hear opinions on both so I could make decision.
And I would put mufflers on it if I did do that now.

LOL true
My last trucks tires were way louder than my exhaust on the highway..they were louder than A] a super 10 flowmaster and B] a straight pipe for the week I had it C] Cherry Bomb Extreme

Btw PCMofNC got back with me..450$ to install headers
