That's why we kicked the guy out... he wouldn't remove his turban or put on his shoes.

Given where trucks usually pick up from / deliver to, I can't see how that could possibly be comfortable...

Tell him to go buy some real trucks.

When i went through the DDS (diesel driving school) as part of my heavy equipment schooling all they had were little 325hp cats with stupid short gears. Pretty sure the trucks did 52mph @ redline.

I almost failed because I didn't "double clutch" my shifts. Growing up we never used the clutch driving the grain haulers or trucks on the farm... Was just a bad habbit.

my driving test instructor was cool as fuck. im pretty sure he was in the old school navy. when i turned on the headlights like the school taught us to do when we hit the road he said why did you turn them on so i told him. he said turn those damned lights off if someone cant see something this big coming they deserve to get hit lmfao. also my double clutching consisted of pushing the clutch pedal just enough to look good and grabbing another gear lol.

They got a real kw. 3 actually, one is auto. had us train with 40k kg in a 53 footer.
they got us started double clutching. After the first day is was not bad at all. The first 2 hours though through town lmfao, wasn't pretty. He then showed me no clutch shift. Which is cool after a long day.

if you take the road course in an automatic they put a restriction on your license where you drive automatic only. grats on passing though. im pretty sure i never legitly double clutched i would barely push the clutch and grab another gear.

That's all double clutching really is. Atleast how I wad taught. You press it in like an inch, releases it just enough to slide out, press in again and slides in. It was kind of a pita when someone would cut me off Nd turn right away, a lot happening at once and fast there hHa

And thanks

if thats all it takes to do an actual double clutch then its no different than shifting without imo. once you learn your shift points its no big deal. enjoy it while you can most companies are starting the switch over to autos. dont let anyone tell you that autos are garbage either my international at usa truck had an ultrashift eaton 10 speed and i drove it all over the east coast during winter and never had any problems.

are you working for a local company or an over the road or what? sorry if you already told us i dont remember.

The auto truck was ok. Like 13 gears though? It would be in 11th doing just regular city driving speeds. Really quick at what it did, wasn't terrible imo.

not working anywhere yet, I've got like 6 weeks left of my EI, and I'm enjoying camping and fishing every week/week end lol. My first eever EI claim, and I don't have to pay it back. I'm gunna enjoy this while I can.

is that like unemployment insurance? if so i dont blame you. any ideas on potential jobs? around here its kind of hard to get your foot in the door with no experience because the insurance companies are dicks (or smart)

once you get some experience you should go drive for that roberts company with the bright green and yellow truck/trailers with the archer dude on the side. get passport they come to the united states all the time.

I recommend doing short haul local work, you will make more and be home every night. OTR is garbage, never home, basically minimum wage, waiting to be loaded and unloaded for hours sometimes days. Local gigs are usually by the hour or by the load, not like 30 cents per mile you will make with no experience.

This.

I've seen more money made as a driver for a road construction company than an operator at times... By the hour, good benefits, and plenty of "city" work. A close second would be to contract for the railroads.
