I've been reading that it's just a myth and that all idiling does is waste gas and cause emissions.

It seems like any argument against idiling is just exxaggerates an issue.

It is exacerbated by short trips but it is still not good. I've seen the sludge caused by condensation first hand. It isn't pretty. It's far from a myth. You also pump fuel and burnt gases straight into the oil until the pistons heat up enough to get max ring seal. It's worse on higher mileage engines. Mix the voc's with the condensation and you get a caustic sludge.

The people complaining also probably run 85/87 octane in their tanks.

I Change my oil every 5k kms. I also did the head gasket in my car after 2 of the coldest winters in a long time. That's roughly 80 thousand km I put on. And I didn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Ofc it was machined and tested like any other.

So as far as I'm concerned, and have experienced, I will waste all that extra gas and let that bitch warm up before I get in.

How is that relevant or related?

Ok. That doesn't make it less true. I'm not saying it's going to blow up instantly if you let it idle. Excessive idling is a bad practice.

Because higher octanes tend to keep your engine running cleaner and better?
