Because a piece of sheet metal and a few pipe clamps are going to fix a fucking exhaust leak.

How about you just fix the leak?  If you're putting that much effort into it, just fix the fucking thing, idiot.

Read what the op is asking. He does not want to fix it properly at the moment and wants a quick fix. My suggestion is a quick "patch" fix.
Even simpletons like yourself should understand that?

Hope this helps.

The guy asked for a temp fix, which is what I suggested given the details he posted.

EXactly. ^ This guy gets it. OP doesn't want to fix it properly at the moment or he would not have made the thread.

derp. Not that difficult of a concept.

My suggestion of wrapping some metal around it and a new clamp would take 5-10 minutes tops and cost less than $10 bucks. It possibly would even last for more than a year or so depending on how bad the pipe is overall.

He asked for a DIY quick fix, I read.. But I also worked in a shop long enough to know that a temporary fix can cause a lot more issues further down the road. So, I will say this because I am a professional, my PROFESSIONAL opinion is that you shouldn't get a temporary fix, and to fix the issue at hand before it becomes more hassle.

If it was a small leak coming from the outlet of the muffler, I'd say just roll with it if you don't have the funds, but seeing that its so up stream, it can cause other issues.

Duct tape is made for heating ducts, it'll be fine of course.  Go four layers if you're worried, four layers is how they fix leaks on nuclear submarines.

not sure what to make of this... seeing as how they would weld something on a sub for a permanent fix instead of half ass-ing it... do it right the first time

Good job avoiding on pointing out what I said was incorrect.

If it's good duct tape it's basically doing it right the first time..

i understand about the car, but on a submarine? Seeing as how i work on one we dont use duct tape to fix anything, thats just asking for trouble.
